A little bit about the club: I have worked in fashion for many years. I started working doing styling and sales for Lafayette 148, a New York brand for middle-aged women, though I have been interested in fashion since I was a kid. I also styled women for Eileen Fisher and worked as a stylist in Bloomingdale's, the flagship location in Manhattan while teaching. After many years, I decided to take a break from fashion as I was teaching and doing my second Master's in Adolescent Ed. After a year, I went back into the world of fashion last winter by helping to launch Aerosoles back into the market and help them with their e-commerce, branding, and styling. I worked with the creative director from Italy to re-design and rebrand the shoes, and with influencers and sales both online and in-person. This summer, I also worked in SoHo in fashion and sportswear. My sister was a production manager for Miguel Ases, the jewelry brand from Spain, and I would help her with pricing and branding as well as sales. She has since moved to Europe and is a buyer for menswear for one of the biggest companies in Europe, Zalando. Fashion is my other passion, aside from Italian Literature and teaching Italian. In this club, I'd like to look at fashion through the decades, specific artists who created unique and eclectic styles, such as Alexander McQueen, fashion from all around the world and in different cultures, fashion in movies. I would also like to help students develop product knowledge, design outfits for a specific purpose, style customers of varying ages, backgrounds and of a diverse socioeconomic status. I would like to teach students how to build a book of clients, maintain connections as well as market yourself in the e-commerce world. I would like us to also create business cards for a fashion job as well as resumes! I hope you will join, it would be so amazing to have you!!! A presto, Sra. Schiffman

Oldies Music Club

This club is for all students who are interested in music from the 50's, 60's, and 70's, and even the 80's. Music was so much different back "in the day" than it is today. Having lived through some of this musical history, I am looking forward to sharing some of this wonderful music with you. We can talk about some of the most well known musicians of the times, and the history that came along with it. 1950's- Disc Jockey Alan Freed, (Who first quoted the term Rock N Roll ), Buddy Holly, The Platters, The Everly Brothers, The Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens, Bill Haley and his Comets,...and so many others. 1960's- Disc jockey Wolfman Jack, The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Monkey's, The Mamas & The Pappas, Bob Dylan,...and others. From the 1970's with groups such as The Carpenters, Bee Gees, Paul McCartney and Wings, Pilot, and one of the most world renowned groups to ever play....ABBA to the 1980's, that sparked so much musical energy as music did in the 1950's. Many groups, especially one hit wonder groups led the decade with some of the most enduring music not seen since decades. David Bowie, a-Ha, Simple Minds, Van Halen, Heart, Men at Work, The Police, Journey, and so many other household names, led this decade into musical paradise. WELCOME TO THE OLDIES MUSIC CLUB !! IT'S GOING TO BE A BALL !!
